St. Barbara's first became involved in a Comenius project in 2007, linking up with partner schools in Catalonia and Sweden. The project "Fit For Life" involved the three schools comparing diet and exercise and was an ideal introduction to bringing the European dimension into the school curriculum. On-going links with Sweden continue after the end of the project and we are lucky enough to strengthen our partnership with our friends in Premia De Dalt, Catalonia through the current project.
Our 2009 -2011 project is Communicating Through Art and we are already well into year 1 with schools from Turkey, Romania and Poland.
For the first time ever, we held a COMENIUS DAY in the school, holding a concert for parents and invited guests with all classes from P4 - P7 with each stage doing activities relating to one of our partner countries. The event also allowed us to inform our guests about Comenius.
